| Many people associate the word "publishing" with
books, or something "in print". There are, however, two different types of publishing in the music industry. The first one, similar to the book industry is, Print Music Publishing. This is the type that we associate with sheet music and other printed materials as in band & orchestral music. The other type of music publishing is the one we actually call "Music Publishing". It consists of the administration of songs & compositions, owned by the publisher, and actively seeking out "homes" for these works. This is done by attempting to place them through networking, with artists that can record them as well as placing them in radio/film/tv/video games and any other forms of media that use music.
